As someone who's been actively involved in shifting policy & practice from fossil fuel dependence and simultaneously shifting toward the most logical of the alternatives, it's a painful step backwards. That said, in my opinion, the decision is realistic and in the best near term interests of the US.

I don't see it as electioneering. We truly need all hands on deck to re-right the economic ship. Just like accepting the reality of budget cuts, accepting this as the wrong time for even the most worthy of causes is the correct thing to do.

I do wonder how many of us recognize this as an example of sacrifices all American's must make to re-stabilize our country? I hadn't thought of that until just now. Seems an appropriate time to hoist the flag (which I'm going to do as soon as I sent this response).

Thanks for helping me realize we are making sacrifices and we should feel good about those.

JeffJeffrey L. This reg. shuts down 10% of the present coal fired electric generating plants. At this time in history do we really need more lost jobs and higher elec. utility prices? The left is demanding (from Obama) more jobs and more enviro oversite at the same time.

Examples of this scenario is the Keystone Pipeline and the clean air reg.s - perplexing isn't it. I want to protect the enviroment and create jobs - but I refuse to allow this country move to the rear with a 3rd world status.Keevin Larsonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3191316279215320372.post-89136797583030089492011-09-03T20:19:18.363-04:002011-09-03T20:19:18.363-04:00It is a fallacy to think that stronger clean air r...It is a fallacy to think that stronger clean air rules will necessarily inhibit economic development. On the contrary, the health and environmental impacts will have negative repercussions.
